CDAG 2023 Virtual Conference

CDAG: Refocus

CDAG: Looking back to refocus on our future!

Camilla Wheeler, George Brown College, will be joined in conversation by a distinguished panel of CDAG past executives and alumni (see list below).

The conference planning committee is delighted to bring together a group of key players, past and present, in the founding and advancement of CDAG and our organization’s impact on the Ontario college system. Learn about the early and evolving government mandates and other issues that inspired the creation of this group of curriculum and academic quality assurance professionals. Collaboration was the key to overcoming resistance, learning with and from one another, and elevating the status and recognition of the work we all do. Their experiences will help current CDAG members refocus on what is still important and what to let go.

  • Marjorie McColm will share with the conference attendees some of the key degree issues members of CDAG and/or the College Degree Operating Group (CDOG) were instrumental in tackling.
  • Dianne Bloor will share some of her memories about the changes and challenges that were a large impetus for the development of CDAG as well as a “curriculum road map” used to refocus thinking on curriculum at that time.
  • Alice Clark will share a little bit about how her involvement with provincial colleagues began, the benefits of those relationships to all colleges and how working together collectively advanced a key goal of CDAG.
  • Janice Mawhiney Priest will share her thoughts on accepting opportunities when you can.
  • Cheryl Kennedy will “look back” and share CDAG milestones that helped further advance recognition and acknowledgement of the important role played by CDAG in building collaboration and professionalism in the curriculum milieu.
  • Deidre Bannerman will speak to her experiences as a new member of CDAG in 2007 – “A Deer in the Headlights… the weird things learned in my first few months on the job as a Project Leader (curriculum developer) attending the 2nd annual CDAG “Gr8 Learning Conference” to discuss this PQAPA-thing following the pilots.”
  • Karen Hodgins will share the evolution of a project that provided teachers and curriculum developers a collaborative on-line resource called the Exchange. Could this concept inspire a new generation of CDAG members?
  • Ruth Rodgers will share a little bit about her expertise in deciding what to teach when there isn’t time to teach everything!
  • Nicole Simoneau will provide her perspective on her early CDAG experience as well as the many changes and new initiatives that have taken place over the past several years. The future is bright for CDAG as it continues to grow and evolve, and expands its reach beyond Ontario’s 24 CAATs.
