CDAG: Refocus
7c -Confessions of a Newbie Curriculum Developer
Alison Dunn, Mohawk College
It’s been 18 months since Alison Dunn switched from a full-time faculty teaching role to become a Curriculum and Program Quality Consultant at Mohawk College. Prior to the move, she was pretty confident in her curriculum development skills – after all, she taught at the post-secondary level for 14 years and finished a master’s degree in adult education. Was she ever wrong! It turns out, she made tons of mistakes in her first year as a curriculum developer. (And a few in her second year as well!) In this presentation, Alison will share some of her own experiences in the trenches, including mistakes she has made, helpful hints for onboarding new curriculum developers and tips for how to find success in the curriculum development role.
