2025 CDAG Award of Excellence Winner – Alanna MacDonald, Curriculum Consultant, Algonquin College
Winners of the Award of Excellence have demonstrated excellence in one or more of the fields of curriculum, quality assurance, and/or teaching and learning. Their practices demonstrate both innovation and positive impact on internal/external stakeholders.
This year’s winner, Alanna MacDonald is a CC at Algonquin College and she personifies this description of excellence. Alanna has significantly advanced curriculum design and development through her years of leadership in organizing this multi-day (CDAG) VIRTUAL conference that we are currently enjoying. Alanna’s oversight has ensured that the conference sessions are available to the broader community via its virtual format and the sessions showcase innovative approaches to curriculum design, including equity-informed pedagogy, competency-based education, and authentic assessment. Her efforts have provided a vital platform for cross-institutional dialogue and learning.
At her own college, Alanna has also helped to develop and facilitate the Curriculum Development and Renewal Series (CDRS). This series includes ten sessions that provide opportunities for experienced and new program coordinators and those leading curriculum activities to enhance their understanding of curriculum development, review, and renewal.
Alanna, we thank you for all you have done and continue to do to enhance our CDAG community!
