2b – Strategies for Teaching and Assessing Essential Employability Skills

Brian Nairn, Lindi Prendi, Thomas Forget, William Szabo, St. Clair College

This one-hour interactive workshop will explore different teaching and assessment strategies for the 11 Essential Employability Skills (EES). Working in breakout rooms, participants will discuss and contribute to a collaborative document highlighting their own strategies for teaching and assessing these skills. Discussion will also focus on challenges faced when working with EES in a curriculum, and strategies for how to mitigate these challenges. Following the small group discussions, there will be a large group debrief where we will share and discuss these strategies as they relate to the quality assurance/cyclical review process, and how we can begin to implement different strategies into our curricula.
